SAKACHEZ® Mission Statement
Empowering the next generation of BIPOC musical theater artists through transformative training and mentorship. We lift up historically marginalized voices, with a dedicated focus on centering AAPI and Latine stories.
Our Initiatives
-
New Work Development: Creating and producing boundary-pushing theater led by creatives of color, prioritizing AAPI and Latine narratives.
-
Education: Dance, vocal, acting, and audition training paired with mentorship for emerging BIPOC performers.
-
Advocacy & Equity: Building bridges for equitable hiring practices and better communication across the industry.
The Founders
Founded by veteran Broadway creatives, performers, and award-winning choreographers Lainie Sakakura (Japanese American) and Alex Sanchez (Puerto Rican). As longtime advocates and educators, they leverage more than three decades of Broadway experience to eliminate systemic barriers for future generations.
